Naming Convention

Every Plastiform product name encodes its core properties. Understanding the convention is a good way to navigate in the product range.

Once you know the code, you can get an idea what the product does without opening the complete technical sheet.

The structure is:

[Letter] + [Number] + [Suffix]

Letter: Initial Consistency

The first letter tells you the Initial Consistency of the product : how the product is applied.

LetterMeaningApplication
FFluidPours into internal cavities. Requires dispensing gun and injector.
PPastySticks to external and vertical surfaces. Requires dispensing gun and injector.
MManual PuttyKneaded and applied by hand. No tools needed.

Number: Shore A Hardness

The number is the Shore A hardness of the cured impression : its Final Consistency. Shore A is an international scale from 0 (flexible) to 100 (rigid).

RangeCategoryBehavior
0 to 40FlexibleDeforms for extraction from complex shapes. Non contact measurement only.
40 to 80MediumVersatile. Compatible with Double Blade Cutter.
80 to 100RigidNo deformation. Contact measurement possible. Zero removal constraint only.

Suffix: Special Properties

Suffixes indicate specific property or variants.

SuffixMeaningExample
RaOptimized for roughness measurement with contact roughness testersP80 Ra
VisualGlossy black finish for optical surface inspectionF30 Visual
MaxMaximum elongation for highest removal constraintsF30 Max
LPLong polymerization time for large or complex applicationsM80 LP
XLLarge volume packaging (400 ml cartridge, 1.7 L or 10.2 L containers)F50 XL
SDMeasured on Shore D scale instead of Shore A. Maximum rigidity.P51 SD

Examples

F20

  • F = Fluid
  • 20 = 20 Shore A, Flexible
  • Use: Complex internal shapes with threads or grooves. High removal constraint tolerance.

F50

  • F = Fluid
  • 50 = 50 Shore A, Medium
  • Use: All round internal impressions. Compatible with Double Blade Cutter. Most popular product in the range.

P80 Ra

  • P = Pasty
  • 80 = 80 Shore A, Rigid
  • Ra = Optimized for roughness measurement
  • Use: External or accessible surfaces where roughness control with a contact tester is needed.

M70

  • M = Manual Putty
  • 70 = 70 Shore A, Medium
  • Use: External impressions applied by hand. No tools required. Compatible with Double Blade Cutter.

P51 SD

  • P = Pasty
  • 51 = 51 Shore D
  • SD = Shore D hardness scale
  • Use: Maximum rigidity. Contact measurement. Zero removal constraint only. The hardest product in the range.
