Make an Impression

This is the full workflow from preparation to extraction. Each step links to a dedicated article for the details.

  1. Select the product. Use the Plastiform Finder to find the perfect product for your problem.
  2. Degrease the surface. Spray the DN1 or any validated degreaser and let it evaporate. See Degreasing Importance.
  3. Mix the components. Extrude until the color is uniform. See Mix the Components.
  4. Inject or apply the material. Keep the nozzle immersed and avoid air traps. See Inject Without Bubbles.
  5. Wait for polymerization. Check the drop test with a fingernail before extracting.
  6. Extract the impression. Pull straight out. Never rotate or unscrew. See Extract Without Breaking.
  7. Measure the replica. Use the right instrument for the impression hardness.

Most failed impressions come from one of three causes: poor degreasing, uneven mixing, or wrong extraction movement.
