XL Range

XL products are product in big volumes (400ml cartridges, or 1l & 10l cans).

Although they share the same naming convention as products in the standard Fluid range, they are entirely different products, with different polymerization times, removal constraints, and other characteristics.

XL products require a longer polymerization time, similar to Long Polymerization (LP) products, and can be used either with a 400 ml dispensing gun and nozzles or manually by hand mixing.

Packaging Sizes

SizeFormatTypical Use
400 ml cartridgeTwo component cartridge for dispensing gunsLarge single impressions, batch impressions taking
1.7 L bottleSeparate bottles of base and catalystManual mixing, big volume to recopy
10.2 L containerBulk containers (2 x 5.1 L)Production scale, protective molds, large fixtures

All XL products are Fluid consistency. There are no Pasty or Manual Putty products in the XL range.

When to Use XL

  • Large internal impressions. Bores above 50 mm diameter or deep cavities where you’d need multiple 50ml cartridges per impression.
  • Protective molds. Creating reusable masks or fixtures for multiple parts. The larger volume lets you mold an entire assembly in one go.
  • Extended working time. XL formulations polymerize more slowly than standard sizes, giving you extra time to position and flow the material.

Differences from Standard Products

  • 01 / 03

    Longer polymerization time

Typically >20 minutes or longer at 20°C. The larger volume retains are not as easy to mix & apply, which requires more handling time.

  • 02 / 03

    Same precision

The micron resolution and zero shrinkage properties are identical to standard sizes.

  • 03 / 03

    Same selection logic

You still choose by consistency, hardness, and removal constraint.

Mixing XL Products

Mixing XL components is similar to the regular range. For cartridges, you will need the DM-400 dispensing gun (or the DB/DP-400 alternatives) and nozzles to mix the product.

If you choose the bottle version, you will need to manually mix both components until the color becomes homogeneous.

  • 400 ml cartridges. Use with a large dispensing gun and appropriate mixer tips. The mixing ratio remains 1:1.
  • Bottles and bulk containers. Measure equal volumes of base and catalyst. Mix thoroughly in a clean container. For volumes above 1 liter, use a mechanical mixer to ensure homogeneity.

Cans that have been stored for a long time needs to be re-malaxed before use. You will need 2 XL Mixers : 1 for each component.

  1. Mix each component individually for 2 minutes, from bottom to top.
  2. Once done, you can clean the XL Mixer with “Essence F” or any equivalent.
  3. DO NOT use the same mixer for both component, even after cleaning it.
  4. Once both components are properly remixed, you can use them as usual.

Application Tips

Pour the material from the lowest point and allow it to rise naturally to minimize trapped air. Your nozzle must always stay in contact with the surface of the part.

Take your time, as Big Volume products are more difficult to handle because their large volume makes it harder to eliminate air bubbles.

Prepare your extraction method before applying the product. XL products are highly resistant, so the force required to extract them is significant. If you do not have a grip wide enough or sufficient pulling force, you risk leaving the replica stuck inside the part.

A common workaround is to leave a void in the center of the impression to make deformation and extraction easier.
